Jorge Haynes
Jorge Haynes was the Senior Director of External Relations for the California State University, Office of the Chancellor. Mr. Haynes was responsible for outreach to all California State University constituent groups and served as the primary liaison between the Chancellor’s Office and underrepresented communities in California and nationally.

Mr. Haynes coordinated the California State University’s out-of-the-box initiatives, which have been nationally recognized and replicated in other states. The California State University’s partnerships with African American churches, Latino organizations, Asian American Pacific Islander representatives and Native American communities have created new pathways for academic preparation leading to a university education for traditionally underrepresented communities.

Prior to joining the Chancellor’s Office in 2001, Mr. Haynes worked in the capital cities of California, Florida, Texas and Washington, D.C. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1967. After electronics school at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, Mr. Haynes was assigned to the 9th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing at Beale Air Force Base, California. He worked on the SR-71 Navigation System. Mr. Haynes is an Air Force Vietnam era veteran. He finished his term as an E-4 and went on to college under the GI Bill. He is active with the American Legion, G.I. Forum (El Camino Chapter), Catholic War Veterans, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and the Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. He received his BA in government from California State University Sacramento in 1972.
